We want more training,&quot; \u2014 Cashuera Community Health Worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first training session for community health workers in Pur\u00fas, Ucayali, was held on October 13 and 14. This activity took place in Puerto Esperanza and was attended by 23 people from different indigenous communities, belonging to four ethnic groups located along the Pur\u00fas River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this meeting, participants learned first aid techniques, leishmaniasis prevention (or &quot;uta&quot;), and actions to take when faced with warning signs in newborns and children. The workshops also discussed the importance of community health workers, the adaptation of health services to cultural relevance, and how to respond to cuts and injuries, among other issues. Community workers shared the techniques they use, and health personnel verified their correct use.
