📍 A real case: Loreto 2025
In Contamana and Requena, flooding forced the temporary closure of several schools.
Girls and adolescents faced the emergency without safe spaces or access to basic hygiene supplies.
The danger is greater for girls and adolescents:
❌ Lack of privacy and security in temporary shelters.
❌ Barriers to menstrual dignity: lack of private bathrooms, supplies, and adequate spaces.
Risks in education and care:
❌ Schools may be closed due to damage and lack of water and sanitation.
❌ Classes may be interrupted for weeks.
❌ Girls and boys may be left without safe spaces to learn and play.
🌧️ Floods in the Amazon can isolate communities and leave thousands of people without basic services such as water, sanitation, health or education.
Under these conditions, girls and boys face greater risks to their well-being and safety.
