In an effort to address the alarming indicators of childhood anemia, a team of nutrition specialists has traveled by river to reach the remote communities of Bufeo, a Huni Kuin ethnic group, and Zapote, a Madijá ethnic group, located on the border with Brazil.
These areas, affected by high rates of anemia and child malnutrition, were the scene of demonstration sessions on the preparation and benefits of Manna Pack fortified rice.
This product, enriched with essential nutrients and iron, is crucial for combating malnutrition. In addition to the cooking demonstration, talks were given to empower parents in effective nutritional care practices.
This visit underscores the urgent need to continue working to close health and nutrition gaps and improve childcare in these vulnerable communities.
This volunteer initiative is funded within the framework of the implementation of DL 1566 thanks to the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) and FONCODES of MIDIS
